Geordie Hyland is Executive Vice President at Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA), a nonprofit healthcare educational institution based in Tampa, Florida that employs more than 2,000 faculty and staff and serves 15,000 online students and 45,000 alumni across the United States.

At UMA, Geordie oversees a team of over 500 professionals responsible for the delivery of online academic and campus services. He also leads UMA’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) division which provides training to more than 40,000 doctors and healthcare professionals annually.

Previously, Geordie served as a Vice President at K12 Inc., the largest online education provider in the United States for the kindergarten through high school age segment. At K12, Geordie was responsible for the company’s three online private schools and their partner relationships in the Middle East, China, and around the world. Prior to this position, Geordie held a business development leadership role at Blackboard, a learning management computer software company, where he launched a new business unit.

Geordie brings a broad perspective to the education field from a career path that included Google, mid-market private equity, European technology sector mergers and acquisitions and private placements, and the founding of a charitable institution.
Geordie holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the London School of Economics, and a BA in English and American Literature from Harvard University. A former professional ice hockey player and division one collegiate athlete, Geordie resides in Tampa, Florida. Geordie is a Toronto native and graduate of Upper Canada College and the son of Toronto Whiff member Bob Hyland.
